Computer Disaster Recovery is seldom needed....
You never know when a disaster might strike your business and nobody wants one to happen. But when they do strike disasters don't have to be devastating. We found out first hand on March 28, 2000 that disaster can strike out of the blue. A tornado struck the Ft Worth, Texas downtown area causing extensive damage to several skyscrapers. Several of our network clients were in some of those buildings causing extensive damage to their offices and complete destruction of their computers. See the pictures below to view the extent of some of the damage. Disasters such as this may be devastating but don't need to devastate your business.
Through practices that we had advised all of our clients were running full speed again except maybe in different places. Computeam had the protective practices in place to protect against disasters such as this one. Through data backup systems and the extensive use of them work right up to the minute when the tornado struck was saved and retrieved quickly. Our clients were able to continue work the next day with virtually no loss although they did have to do it in different locations (we think the reason is pretty clear by viewing the pictures). As a computer network services company we have seen too many disasters happen with weeks, months and years of work lost simply because a network backup system was not in place. Our clients were sure glad we had harped on the purchase of backup systems and the religious and daily use of them.
Not only was current work and valuable information recovered quickly Computeam had the resources to quickly rebuild networks and computer systems. In many cases offices had to be moved, new network cables run and new network equipment installed, quickly. By the extensive damage visible below few computers survived the tornado. All had to be replaced. With our extensive resources custom built computers were replaced the next day with ones that exceeded the previous specifications.
While few disasters rival the extensive damage from a direct hit by a tornado they can be just as disastrous. Computers have become such a reliable tool for business that we sometimes forget their fallibility. Hard drives crash all the time. This could prove to be a disastrous loss of information spanning years of work. But with the proper use of backup technology this could prove to be only a hiccup. Please make use of the available backup technology....and use it. Several of our clients are happy of the systems we installed for them and the strick regimen of backing up that we put them to.
While we hope no disaster strikes anyone they still happen. With proper use of available backup technology and extensive resources in your computer network company there should be no reason your business can be back up quickly. Don't let a disaster be disastrous to your company.
